Inflation
Gasoline prices up 45% since last year

Rental cars up 12% since April

Lumber, Bacon, Milk thru the roof!
So many other items are spiking, PPI up 6.6% at some point the rise in prices will get passed on to the consumer, so expect it to go up more.

What a mess, hard to get this genie back in the bottle..... Wait till Biden starts spending all these new freshly printed Trillions.....

Fucking mess!

Re: Inflation
Unintended consequence of the lockdown effect of shutting down hospitality and travel. Plenty of unspent cash chasing limited supplies of goods.

I was looking at a summer house and or a shed, the supplier says the prices are going up so fast they can’t keep up. Delivery in November. Could be a bumpy ride unless higher interest rates is your thing.

Even though it’s obviously the inevitable result of lockdown, it was always going to happen that the disingenuous and/or hard of thinking would blame their political enemies.

Re: Inflation
Hardly surprising. High income earners like myself have pent up demand throughout lockdown. Since the economy reopened in March, I have bought a new car and taken my various squeezes out for expensive meals at fancy restaurants. I also have TWO holidays in the pipeline in the UK this summer. I'm sure there are many others in similar situations.

Re: Inflation
I think the fed or the treasury said that inflation is 3.5% and its a temporary aberration. An economist I was watching has calculated it to be running at over 8% if you use the same index that the treasury used up until the 90s.

I had this argument with one of our economic consultants at work, who can't answer simple questions.

Printing trillions of dollars of new money has to have an effect on the economy, you either have to sell bonds (the Saudis, CCP and Jap and Norwegian wealth funds were the main buyers), raise taxes (there is not enough taxable income in the USA to cover this printing in 50 years) or inflate the debt away.

If you inflate the debt away this affects the poorest people most, those with assets will do best. It also seriously affects your international standing and the reputation of the dollar as the global reserve currency.

Re: Inflation
The Government might have to be doing a bit of nifty footwork soon, as the ONS wage increase calculation for the 12 months to April was 8.4%.

That has a direct impact on triple lock pensions, which will result in an extra £5 billion cost of pensions in 2022.

I can't see how they'll be happy to foot the bill with such a huge increase coming up. Politically, it's dynamite as well, May's offer that they won't take all of someone's home if they end up in care cost her the PM job eventually.

"Standard" package sizes are drifting down again, too. What was once a pint sized can of beer is now 490ml, for example; 1.5l bottles of fizzy pop have become 1.25l bottles of fizzy pop....

It may have turned up more quickly via an unexpected route, but the thick cunts of Britain voted for exactly this.

Why on earth did you and your kind vote for Covid, vexed? Makes no sense.

On The Ball 2:11 Wed Jun 16
Re: Inflation
Rental cars going up in price is nothing to do with inflation - the companies chopped in a load of their inventory at the start of COVID.

Now cars aren't as easy to get back in stock, and people are travelling again - so there are less options and therefore prices are going up.

Unless that’s just for a giggle V, that’s embarrassing. So Brexit is why there’s inflation in the US?

You mustn't also forget that under the shadow of Brexit and Covid a lot of industries have just hugely increased costs because, quite simply, they are greedy cunts.
